It’s pretty obvious we love parody films. We hope you like them too because below we have a list of some parody horror movies and mockumentaries. Enjoy.

Night of the Living Bread

This is only a short film that I came across on YouTube but it’s still one of the funniest parody horror movies out there. Take the dead and replace them with bread. That’s it. Then we have our brave heroes taping off the windows with sandwich bags while they are listening to the radio broadcasts describing the outbreak. Could this be called a “yeast infection?” No one is safe. Your lunch may kill you. Grab the toaster and be ready to make a break for it. It’s a “Wonder” this little film isn’t more popular. Perhaps it can now “rise” to the top. Fine. I’m done with the bread jokes. Fiber.

Scary Movie

I liked the first one of these series. After that, not so much. Some folks enjoy them all but I just can’t get on the boat. The fact is that even though I enjoyed the first one, spoofs just don’t seem to be as much fun as they were back in the day. Now it all seems to be an endless running gag of genital jokes and gross-outs. And while I am certainly no prude, I think there are funnier things than genitalia…well that depends on whose genitalia I suppose.

Love at First Bite

This film isn’t a traditional film compared to our other favority parody horror movies. It really only pulls from the Dracula mythos, put it is definitely lampooning all those that came before. It is stylish and funny and George Hamilton is a hottie. “Children of the night….shut up!” This film fares much better than Dracula: Dead and Loving it, which is unfortunate. I wanted to love the Mel Brooks foray into everyone’s favorite fang-wielder. Alas, it was not meant to be.

Wacko

Joe Don Baker, Julia Duffy, Stella Stevens, George Kennedy and even Andrew Dice Clay pop up in this escapade. Cops are searching madly for the “Lawnmower Killer.” This one doesn’t get much love and I don’t think it’s available on DVD so good luck finding it. If you can without spending too much dough, do. It’s surely worth a watch but I wouldn’t kill myself obtaining it.

Cannibal: The Musical

Those crazy South Park guys are at it again. Always poking fun at something. This time it’s cannibalism and it’s so much fun! The songs get stuck in your head like you wouldn’t believe “the sky is blue and all the leaves are green…” and there are some great lines throughout. “I don’t wanna eat butt.” “Well, what do you want?” “I dunno. Not buuuttt.”

Pandemonium

Here is another one of the parody horror movies from the vault that gets no play. The cast list on this one is huge. Tom Smothers, Eve Arden, Judge Reinhold, Carol Kane, Paul Reubens…a who’s who film for the time. This is classic Airplane style spoofing and it is great. Cheerleaders are getting killed at camp and the brave Canadian Mounty must do what he can to stop it. Once again, not available on DVD to my knowledge, but it’s out there somewhere.

Repossessed

I think this one disappointed a lot of people but I enjoyed it. It seemed to come along at a time when Nielsen wasn’t turning out the gold like he once did. But it surely has its moments. “Your mother sews socks in Hell!” And come on, Linda came out to lampoon herself. What could be better than that? I guess after The Exorcist II she felt she needed to do something. Blecch. That was a horror parody in itself…only not funny.

Student Bodies

Ah, Student Bodies. I was excited to get to this one. Horsehead bookends, gum on the shoe, heavy breathing, red pee. Such sweet memories. Who is causing the body count to rise? What teen vixen will be the next to die in an unsavory (and totally unconventional) manner? How can everyone see this movie? I went through Hell and high water to get a copy of this film several years ago so it’s out there. And get this all you Law and Order junkies…Richard Belzer is “The Breather.” Cool, huh?

Saturday the 14th

This film parodies everything from Jaws to Dracula and even has a bathtub scene with the Gimme a Break girly. And with a cast including Richard Benjamin, Jeffrey Tambor and Paula Prentiss it effortlessly sets ’em up and knocks ’em down.

Young Frankenstein

The seventies and early eighties were when spoofs were golden. And who could argue that Brooks’ YF belongs at the top of any list? Marty Feldman bugs his eyes, Gene Wilder fluffs his hair, Teri Garr looks smokin’ and Cloris Leachman…well she has a special relationship with horses. The Puttin’ on the Ritz dance number is classic and there are so many quotable lines I couldn’t even begin to pick out the ones I love the most. “Put ze candle back.”

Jessie Higgins & His Inner Demon

The final on our list of horror parody movies is a mockumentary horror from our own vault of funny videos titled Jessie Higgins & His Inner Demon. You guessed it… we produced it.

Nobody knows the struggle of being possessed by a demon like Jesse Higgins. He’s been living with his inner demon since he came out of his mother’s womb… since he came out of her vagina. We met up with Jesse in his home to follow him for a few days to see what it’s like living with an inner demon. Watch as we found out everything you need to know about demonic possessions like being disowned by your parents, incapable of developing meaningful relationships, and of course MySpace.

Despite his ordeal, Jesse keeps a surprisingly positive outlook on life. He finds affirmations daily by claiming not to let MySpace rule his life. He’s generally just a good role model for all demonically possessed young ones that might be struggling with their identity.
