What is...
Upside Down Creative Media?

Upside Down Creative Media (UDCM) is an independently funded, award-winning production company (translation: one guy makes videos and podcasts on the internet with whatever funds are left over after rent and bills, but somehow, he’s managed to snag a handful of awards at local festivals along the way). UDCM is based in Jacksonville, Florida — aka Actionville, home of the Jax Celebs, famous for its bridges, and food trucks. Despite that, comedy is their true passion. And yes, they do have real jobs, but let’s not talk about those right now.

Before teaming up, both Marshall and Rob were on their own creative journeys since 2008, each building their own internet comedy empires (well, more like tiny comedy villages.) Marshall started collaborating on YouTube sketches right after moving to Jacksonville in 2008, which eventually led him to launch Tom Foolery Flix in 2010, his first real attempt at shaping a comedy brand. A few years later, in 2012, he began working as a photographer for a major e-commerce company. That job is where everything shifted, because it’s where he met Rob, who was working as a copywriter in the same building. Rob was already creating his own oddball universe online through his WalgreensAssClown channel, posting whatever chaos he felt like releasing into the world.

Two separate creative paths. Two small but determined comedy outposts. And then one introduction through Marshall’s former comedy partner brought them together and laid the foundation for what would eventually become UDCM in 2013.

The name “Upside Down Creative Media” is our tongue-in-cheek nod to the media industry. It was inspired by the moment Rob and Marshall first met, a time when their lives were flipped upside down and the world was more bonkers than ever. The work produced under the UDCM umbrella is a cocktail of absurd humor, dark wit, and a healthy dose of “did they really just say that?” It’s intended to tickle the funny bones of everyone from Gen-X to millennials to Gen-Z — basically, anyone who appreciates a good laugh.

The mission of Upside Down Creative Media goes beyond just their creative dreams. Sure, they’d love to land production deals with Netflix or Amazon (call them, seriously), but they’re also all about helping others get the recognition they deserve. Whether you’re an individual or a brand, they’re here to give you that little push into the spotlight.

The partnership ended quietly in 2020. Rob stepped away without explanation and shifted toward bartending, fantasy-sports podcasting, and pursuing music opportunities in Nashville. Marshall kept UDCM going, still unsure why the collaboration had collapsed. Then, completely unexpectedly, Rob returned in late 2023. They reconnected briefly, but within a few months, the relationship dissolved again. Only in 2025 did the real reasons behind both departures finally become clear.

Meanwhile, Marshall kept moving forward. He won new festival awards, including the 2024 LOL Jax wins, and built a fully equipped livestream podcast studio out of his garage, launching the UDCM Podcast Network in January 2025. UDCM continued to grow, proving the work had a life of its own.

For anyone who wants to understand how everything unfolded behind the scenes, the full account is documented in the fantasy version of me they invented, a detailed breakdown of the events, accusations, and misunderstandings that ultimately ended the partnership.

Industry Recognition & Mentions

Some of the most memorable recognition has come from people whose comedy and filmmaking we admire. These are creative connections, public shoutouts, and words of encouragement.

Blake Anderson & Kyle Newacheck — This Is Important. In 2021, they mentioned Marshall’s livestream work on the podcast, including the offbeat, public-access-TV spirit of TK Live. It was a surreal moment for a small creator building shows from Florida.

Kyle Newacheck & WONK. After a 2017 podcast interview with Kyle and producer Thomas Kellogg, Marshall went on to produce web-series work for WONK in 2018. Kyle also publicly supported the Falling Together project.

Fred Durst — Falling Together. In 2019, Fred responded to the project on Instagram, including the comment, “I see two stars shining so bright.”  ▶︎ See the original post.

A Glimpse into The UDCM Social Media

They’re like herpes — everywhere and impossible to get rid of. Once upon a time, YouTube was the main stage, but now they’ve scattered ourselves across Instagram, Facebook, and pretty much every social media platform that lets them in. Their story isn’t stuck in one place; it’s sprinkled all over the internet like digital confetti.

Los Rotos Podcast was a comedy interview show created by Vanessa Scaduto and produced by Marshall Malone, originally filmed in CW Studios in 2022. Vanessa named the show, set the concept, and booked guests, while Marshall handled the full production pipeline — branding, lighting, audio, filming, editing, and overall creative direction.

When Marshall built Studio 604, his self-funded podcast and livestream studio, Los Rotos became the flagship show for the launch of the UDCM Podcast Network in January 2025. The podcast moved into a multi-camera, higher-quality setup that showcased what the studio and the format were capable of.

Why the Podcast Ended

The show ended for practical reasons. First, ongoing scheduling conflicts made regular production harder to maintain. Shortly after, Marshall lost his full-time job, which forced the shutdown of Studio 604. Since the entire studio and network were personally funded, he has not yet been able to rebuild the space or relaunch the network.

Even with a short run, Los Rotos stands as proof of:

  • Marshall’s strong concept & brand development and end-to-end production abilities, studio engineering
  • The potential of a small, creator-driven podcast network

The episodes that were produced still reflect the quality and direction the show was built for.
